bottelpack® Blow-Form-and Seal technology

MELITEK together with rommelag® provide the unique bottelpack® Blow-Form-and Seal technology to clients in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

 company profile

The rommelag® organization consists of several factories and commercial offices.

Today there are three distribution companies of the bottelpack® packaging system; rommelag® ag in Switzerland, rommelag® GmbH in Germany and rommelag® USA Inc. in New Jersey USA.

The machines are designed and manufactured in two sites; Kocher-Plastik in Germany and Maroplastic in Switzerland.

In addition the rommelag® organization run four contract packaging plants with almost 50 machines; Holopack I and II in Germany and Maropack in Switzerland.

The group is privately owned and has about 1100 employees.

The bottelpack® technology

Extruding

The plastic parison, extruded from polymer, is accepted by the opened blow mould and cut below the die of the parison head.

Moulding

The main mould closes and simultaneously seals the bottom. The special mandrel unit settles onto the neck area and forms the parison into a container, using compressed air. Small containers (<50 ml) are formed by vacuum.

Filling

By way of the special mandrel unit, the product, precisely measured by the dosing unit, is filled into the container.

Sealing

After the special mandrel unit retracts, the head mould closes and forms the required seal by vacuum.

Mould opening

With the opening of the blow mould, the container exits from the machine and the cycle repeats itself. Transfer for further processing is achieved by means of a conveying system.

The advantages of the bottelpack® technology:

The bottelpack® packaging system offers following key advantages to traditional filling machines;

  • Storage of empty containers are eliminated
  • Cleaning and pre-sterilisation process and equipment is eliminated
  • Filling and sealing is handled in one machine
  • The required GMP production area is reduced

bottelpack® applications:

The target applications for the bottelpack® packaging system range from small volume unitdoses of 0,1 ml to large volume parenterals of up to 1000 ml.

The raw material range from polyethylene (PE) to polypropylene (PP).

Typical large volume parenterals applications are:

  • Intravenous solutions
  • Irrigation solutions
  • Desinfection liquids
  • Contact lens rinsing solutions
  • Urological products
  • Blood expanders
  • Contrast medias for X-ray

Typical small volume parenterals applications are;

  • Eye, ear and nose drops
  • Eye irrigation
  • Inhalation therapy liquids
  • Wound cleaning
  • Creams and ointments
  • Local anaesthetics
  • Saline solutions
  • Standard injectables
  • Contact lens liquids

Special bottelpack®-technology

rommelag® has a continuous and permanent commitment to assist the pharmaceutical industry with the latest state-of-the-art equipment, here are some examples:

The Dark/White Side Configuration
The GMP production area and technical service area is separated, whilst the human intervention in the filling room is reduced to absolute minimum during start-up. With the option of a LAF-unit over the filling point the process comply to EU Class A or US Class 100.

The In-line Sterilizable Air Chamber
An automatic CIP/SIP system that assures that the air chamber protecting the point of filling retain sterile around the filling mandral.

Handling Systems
Rommelag® can offer a total line management consisting of a complete lines from the bottelpack®equipment down stream to the final packaging of the containers.

The Leak Detector
Fully automatic downstream testing 100% in-line. The leak testing is performed by high-voltage method and is suitable to many different ampoule designs. The rommelag® leak detector is a very clean inspection method with no risk of contaminating the product.
